Charlie Hughes is a Manchester found Singer Songwriter who has just released his new single 'Lay Me Down'. His mysterious and almost spine chilling sound will be sure to put you into a trance that you just can't snap out off. With huge elements off Blues, you'd know already from the first few seconds of his song just how good this is going to be.
The song is slowly introduced by a gentle acoustic guitar that is then introduced by the voice of Charlie Hughes, first lyrics being "Where are you now?", a strong chill rushed down my spine, this was something quite beautiful. A back line of string instruments are gently played in the background of the vocals, drums and guitar, adding a warm sound to him.
As the song progresses, you find yourself stuck in some sort of musical trance up until the beat changes and you are suddenly snapped out for a slight moment whilst the drum cymbals are gently tapped repeatedly, creating an atmosphere that is not describeable.
This is something of a unique track, it makes you think deeper into the song than you would hearing a song on BBC Radio 1. You can truly hear the passion behind the lyrics and vocals and Charlie amazingly creates and atmosphere even on a recorded song. This is something amazing.
