When it comes down to The Posies, Rock n' Roll has never been quite as smart, soulful or satisfying than it ever has in their hands. During their long stretched on/off career of FOUR decades, the Seattle owned outfit led by musical polymaths Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, have shaped and re-shaped their muse, creating one of the more compelling catalogues in modern pop.
SOLID STATES, which is their 8th album, The Posies now mark a huge dramatic change in the lives, the music and the evolution of the band.
After being left devastated after long time The Posies drummer Darius died suddenly last year, the original founding members Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow called for a reinvention. Hard as it was to continue without such a close friend and great musician, the moment called for a reinvention. For now... the idea of the band getting into a room and banging out the music, garage band style, was over. The ideas coming from Jon and Ken were fragile and the moods contemplative. Death, divorce, loss. Even the joys of life are fleeting enough as to be treated with care and respect.
As well as the new album Solid States, the band are also embarking on a massive EU tour including a one of show at London's legendary 100 Club. The tour will also see them perform in Germany, Netherlands, France, Sweden and even Spain.
The band are also offering a free download of their track 'Squirrel vs Snake' which features on the new album below.
