Since Green Day announced they are releasing a new single, titled 'Bang Bang' next week, speculation has been made to what exactly it's going to sound like after their last three albums 'Uno, Dos, Tre'.
107.7fm DJ Nik Rivers was recently lucky enough to have a listen to the new track at Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, and what he has to say about the track may just be the best news to many punk rock fans that look up to Green Day's older material.
Nik Rivers says "So if you are a fan of the early, punky Green Day, you will LOVE the new song Bang, Bang. And when I say early, think Dookie, but not "When I come Around" Dookie, but more "Welcome To Paradise", "Burnout" & "Chump" Dookie...With hints of Kerplunk & the rawness of 39 Smooth. I'm excited for the #AltFamily to hear this one!"
Could this mean that the next Green Day album will be going back to Billie Joe's, Mike Dirnts and Tre Cools roots of raw punk rock? Are we getting the long anticipated old school Green Day album every die hard fan has been waiting for?
Their new single, 'Bang Bang' is premiered on August 11th.
