Sutherland's music career isn't anything new though, in 2002 he and his music partner Jude Cole began a small record label called Ironworks. Sutherlands and Cole's goal for starting up the record label in such a tough industry was to record local artists and make sure they got heard at a time when the industry was going through a monumental shift. Some of the artists they had recorded included of Rocco DeLuca and The Burden, Lifehouse, Ron Sexsmith and Honey Honey.but in 2009 Kiefer Sutherland decided to leave the record label to reimagine himself on what he wanted to do next.
In 2015 Sutherland started the recording process for what was going to be his debut album, Down in a Hole. He Collaborated with ex record label partner Jude Cole to record the album, which originally only had 4 tracks that weren't intended for other artists to record. Sutherland released 'Down in a Hole' in 2016 as his debut.
