First of all, Kiefer is a god damn mega star and not just within his acting career, as he proved at a very special intimate show at Manchesters Gorilla venue. Whilst completely owning the stage, controlling the crowd like his own personal puppet, you could see clearly how into the performance he was. With a solid vocal performance, his accompanying band also played their role well, you could have thought Kiefer was a full piece band, not a solo artist.

Even though the night started with a few early production troubles with the bass being a bit too loud and the microphones were a little tuned out, these problems were soon resolved whilst Kiefer covered it up with his next to none showmanship. The set list was an excellent combination of his own material with some classic covers sprinkled into it. Kiefer really has respect for the craft and his songs reflect this with deep emotional impact and an infectious energy that gets any gig goers blood pumping.

Songs like “Not Enough Whiskey”, “Shirley Jean” and “Going Home” got an obvious great reception. He also performed some new material including new songs “Saskatchewan” and “Rebel Wind” which were were a fantastic addition and we are already blood thirsty for a new album.

The covers were loving tributes to country classics. Our favourite of which being a cover of Merle Haggard’s “The Bottle Let Me Down”. As a fan of country music for years it was a really nice touch for Kiefer to add to his set. This was a fantastic show with all of the right pieces performed across the night. Kiefer is a spectacular performer and he certainly has the showmanship, songwriting and talent on his side. It was obvious every punter in the room had a fantastic night watching a true legend.
